BGP Litigation partner Alexander Vaneev appears as an expert on the RBC television program Real Economy, in an episode concerning the fine levied by the FAS on Moller-Maersk and four other container liner operators for price fixing on the Russian market

The prospects of the companies successfully appealing the FAS decision are not high, given that the violation of the legislation on protection of competition (the prohibition against concerted actions) has already been established by decision of the antimonopoly authority, notes Alexander Vaneev. So far, attempts to overturn the decision have failed: after having been denied in proceedings in the first instance, the case is now at the appeal stage. Rather than challenging the fine, it makes more sense to challenge the decision itself that a violation of the antimonopoly legislation was committed, otherwise it will be impossible to dispute the fine, said the BGP Litigation partner.
